The CCNNM chat room is an online service that allows up to 20 users that are logged in to have a real-time, online conversation via the Internet. Chatting is an informal electronic communication form either between two users (one-to-one chat) or many users simultaneously (many-to-many). The purpose of the CCNNM chat room is to discuss questions and issues concerning domestic violence. During the hours of operation a counselor will be online to have moderated private and/or public conversations. We ask that you be courteous and refrain from "bad" language.

Instructions to get to the CCNNM chat room:

After clicking the "CHAT now" icon you will  asked to Login (see below) either to register or sign on as a guest. If you are registered you can use the same login and nickname for future sessions. Most people will login as guests by clicking the >>Guest Login button.

After you have completed the login you will see a "chat:" box come up. It will take a few minutes to log you into the chat room, but you will be told  when the process is complete. The chat room should look like the illustration below. To send a message type in the "Your message" box (make sure that you have place the cursor in the box before starting to type) Be sure to hit the enter key to send the message.

In the chat room we can have up to 20 people engaged in a discussion. You can choose between two ways to talk to each other, the many-to-many mode (default), and the person-to-person conversation for private discussions. The mode can be switched by clicking on the person's nickname (in the Chat-User column) that you would like to talk to in private. To revert to the public mode click on the person's nickname (in the Chat-User column).

When you have finished or no longer wish to participate please click on the Logout button.
